A delegation of Muslims met Maharashtra Home Minister demanding the release over a dozen youths.

Mumbai: Close on the heels of Swami Aseemanand's confession of his involvement in blasts in the Samjhauta Express and at Malegaon, a delegation of Muslims on Monday met Maharashtra Home Minister R R Patil demanding the release over a dozen youths, arrested for alleged link in the Malegaon case.

"About 14-15 young Muslim boys from Malegaon were arrested by police in connection with the blast. But after Aseemanand's confession of involvement of RSS members in the blast, the boys should be released immediately," said former

MLA Suhail Lonkandwala, who led the delegation.

The delegation also sought to know from Patil if the government would ban the RSS like SIMI.

Former State Labour Minister and NCP MLA Nawab Malik also wrote a letter to Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan and Patil for the release of the accused.

In his letter, he said "whatever mistakes have been done must be rectified in good conscience and the innocents should be rehabilitated by the Government."

Samajwadi Party MLA Abu Asim Azmi has also met Chavan recently and made a similar demand.

Another NCP MLA Jitendra Avhad would also be meeting Patil this week, along with family members of the blast accused, to make the same request.

Aseemanand has confessed that he and several RSS activists among others had a direct role in blasts in Malegaon, Samjhauta Express, Ajmer and Mecca Masjid in

Hyderabad.
