CHENNAI: Over the years, Chennai has been home to some of India’s leading motorsport events and given rise to a number of top race car drivers on the track. Joining the club is the Red Bull Racing Can — a university racing series, where the youth of the city get the opportunity to show off their skills. This is, in fact, a worldwide event, where 12 teams compete per location on a set course with custom remote control cars.However to ensure fair play, the chassis of all cars are the same. It’s the body of the racers, aerodynamics and particularly design that will make all the difference. And that’s where tin metal joins the race — the body, aerodynamic features and design will be made of Red Bull cans! Quite the challenge for engineering geniuses and daredevil-racers alike, all the participants need use their engineering skills and create an outstanding remote control racer. What comes is a true F1 like experience. Winners from cities such as Bangalore, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Pune, Mumbai will head to Delhi to compete and the overall champions will be flown to the Red Bull Racing headquarters in Milton Keynes, UK. And, added to this, get to experience what goes into designing and racing an F1 car, with world champions.So gear up to hit the asphalt, and for all those racer enthusiasts with a stroke of the jitter, remember as someone wise once said, “Yes we CAN.”(The Red Bull Racing Can competition will be held between August 9 and 10 at SRM University)
