Jaipur: A fashion designing student in the city has accused an Army major of drugging and raping her,police said today. The girl alleged in an FIR lodged on Thursday last that the accused Umesh Swami invited her to a city hotel on the pretext of discussing their marriage proposal and then
drugged and raped her.
The alleged incident took place in November last year after which Swami got married with another girl, the police said. "The family member of the girl claimed that the major's family had approached them with a wedding proposal and
after initial discussions, both the families agreed to the wedding."
"After the families' verbal committment, the major called the girl to a hotel where he alleged drugged and raped her. After the incident, he went back on duty and later got married with another girl," Surendra Singh, in-charge of
Kardhani police station said. "We have recorded the statements of the girl and her family members. Now we are verifying the Major's unit to carry out further course of investigation," he said.
