Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) president K Chandrasekhar Rao has given an ultimatum to the central government to declare separate Telangana after vice-presidential elections or be ready to face chaos in the state.
Rao unveiled the statue of Telangana ideologue Prof. K Jayashankar at Kanteshwar in Nizamabad town on Sunday. The programme was held under the aegis of Telangana Jagruthi.
Addressing the gathering, the TRS chief urged people to draw inspiration from Jayashankar and carry forward their struggle for achieving statehood to Telangana. “The Telangana movement started in 2001 with the blessings of Jayashankar,” he remembered. “Some UPA leaders are faulting me for remaining silent on Telangana issue but I am remaining so as the Congress high command said it would announce Telangana after the vice-presidential elections,” he said, adding that he received clear signals about Telangana from New Delhi.
On the occasion, former Naxalites submitted a memorandum to KCR about their grievances and the TRS chief promised to announce a special package to Naxals after formation of Telangana.
“Naxalism intensified in the region only because of the discrimination against Telangana people by the Seemandhra leaders,” he said.
Later, he planted a sapling near the statue and appealed to the people to plant 1 lakh saplings in Telangana districts for a green planet.
Telangana Jagruthi president K Kavi tha sai d Jayashankar’s statue will soon be erected in all Telangana districts.
