Haryana Assembly elections: Modi's Jind rally instills confidence into a leaderless BJP
While Modi targeted the Chautalas, BJP candidates from all the five Assembly constituencies shared the stage with the PM.

Jind: Prime Minister Narendra Modi took his campaigning for the Haryana elections to Indian National Lok Dal stronghold Jind district on Saturday.

The rally held at the Pandu Pindara village has given the much needed impetus to the Bharatiya Janata Party cadre who are fighting a 'leaderless' battle and trying to make their presence felt in the Haryana Assembly elections.

While Modi targeted the Chautalas, BJP candidates from all the five Assembly constituencies shared the stage with the PM. They do not shy away from accepting that they need a national level leader like Modi to make an impact on Haryana voters who have generally gone with the caste and class of the candidates for decades.

"Modiji is here. He has decided to come to Jind, that itself shows the importance of this land. Now that the PM is here, half our battle is won," BJP candidate from Uchana Kalan Prem Lata told IBNLive.

"Modi is the favourite of 1.25 billion people, the general public looks up to him. He swept the Lok Sabha elections, we are sure he will sweep the Assembly elections too," she added.

The party which won just 4 seats in the 90-member Assembly is dreaming big this time. BJP is confident that it would be able to form a majority government in the state. Prime Minister Modi has taken it upon himself to spread the message. "Try us once and we will develop your state," he said at the rally.

However, BJP has not yet projected its chief ministerial candidate. Neither does it have any state leader consistently campaigning across the state. Haryana BJP President Ram Bilas Sharma is busy in his campaigns in Mahendragarh where he lost the 2009 Assembly elections by a margin of over 5000 votes and there are several contenders for the CM's post in the party.
