Mumbai: Actor Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is loving it! Not the interview that is, but her role as a Rajput princess Jodhaa Bai in the forthcoming Jodhaa Akbar. So be it the heavy costumes, elaborate sets or feisty sword fights, she's enjoyed every moment of the film.
"I don’t know why anyone heard that. I used to simply love doing those sword fights, so much so that Ashutosh (Gowarikar) started calling me Jodhaa. I mean I used to really go for it!,” said Aishwarya.
Is that so? But if the grapevine is to be believed, Jodhaa Akbar's making had many injuries, creative differences and all the usual drama. So isnt’' any of that true? Well, the queen B's convinced that it’s all a figment of the media's imagination.
"You know it's funny, this relationship that we share, you guys and us. I mean so much is said about our personal lives and our films. We had so much traveling everyday to Karjat during the making that very often we couldn't keep up with all the stories that were coming out,” said Aishwarya.
Which we take to mean, that nothing came in the way of her commitment to playing Jodha perfeclty, not even the mega marriage to Abhishek.
"Actually the greatest compliment I got was from Ashutosh was when I came back after a short break post marriage, and it was a really short break. He just said nothings changed about you. You know how one expects somethings to change about a girl post her wedding?" said Aishwarya.
With such dedication inspired by this character in her, would the actor ever trade places with a real princess like Jodhaa Bai?
"I don’t think I will ever give up my life, you know . I love my life I enjoy it I respect it,” said Aishwarya.
The question is, will the smile remain post the release of Jodhaa Akbar? After all, the last attempt at playing a dream like historical beauty in Umrao Jaan, did leave Ash high and dry?
