New Delhi: The first Indian fatality from Influenza A (H1N1) (swine flu) has been reported in Singapore where a 29-year-old Indian woman succumbed to the virus in a city hospital on Sunday.

However, the details of the victims are not yet known.

According to the Straits Times, the woman, who had been reportedly suffering from flu-like symptoms for the last four days, was admitted to the Changi General Hospital on July 25 after becoming unconscious.

Reports say the woman was also suffering from obesity.

Doctors have warned that obesity can lead to respiratory complications in patients with swine flu.

She is the sixth person with the H1N1 virus to have died in Singapore in the past two weeks.

However, no deaths have been reported within India yet, but Pune, which is turning out to one of the worst affected cities in the country, got its 100th confirmed case on Sunday.

According to the Union health Ministry the total number of patients infected by the virus touched 551 with 17 new cases being reported on Sunday.

A statement by the ministry claimed that a total of 2,443 people have been tested for Influenza A (H1N1) and out of the 551 positive cases, 422 have already been been discharged.
