Italy offers Rs 1 crore to victims kin

KOCHI: In a major twist in the Enrica Lexie episode, the Italian Govt has approached the family of the two victims offering Rs 1 crore each for an out-of-court settlement.However, it insisted that all the cases filed by the family members of the two fishermen against the Italian marines and the shipping company should be withdrawn. On Thursday, the victims’ family filed a petition before the Kerala High Court in which they proposed to enter into a settlement with the Italian Govt."Italian Defence Ministry’s Cabinet Chief Prezuaza has already met me to discuss an out-of- court settlement. They offered a compensation of Rs 1 crore each to both the families," said  C Unnikrishnan, counsel of Doramma, wife of Valentine, one of the victims.
