Srinagar: After India summoned the Pakistani High Commisisoner Abdul Basit over LOC tensions between the two countries, another ceasefire violation has been reported in the Manjakot sector in Rajouri district. Three people have been injured and the firing is still on.

This comes just hours after Pakistan forces opened fire in Poonch district in Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday morning. Six people have died and 16 others have been injured in the firing.

In fact, after the meeting at the Ministry of External Affairs, Pakistan's envoy to India hit back saying there have been 70 ceasefire violations from the Indian side of the LoC in July and August.

"Obviously, I conveyed to the Foreign Secretary that we are concerned about ceasefire violations. In the months of July and August there have been close to 70 ceasefire violations from this side of the LoC and the working boundary. We are obviously very concerned about it and secondly, our side would like to have a more effective mechanism in place as to determine who indulges in these unprovoked firing" Basit said.

J&K Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed has called for immediate de-escalation of tension along the border and for India and Pakistan to uphold the 2003 ceasefire.
