Join city, pay more charges to Corporation

CHENNAI: Residents of nine municipalities, eight town panchayats and 24 village panchayats, which have been incorporated into Chennai Corporation, will now have to pay the development charges levied by the corporation. Sources said a decision to implement development regulations and levy development charges to the extended area as applicable for the city area was made in a meeting of senior officials held on November 4.The revised development regulation norms and the revised rates shall be applied to the planning permission applications for which decision is pending as on October 25, 2011, the sources added.
