HYDERABAD: A 25-member jumbo delegation, led by TRS president K Chandrasekhar Rao and comprising leaders of his party and the Telangana political Joint Action Committee, left for Delhi on Friday to find a way out of the Telangana impasse. The delegation, which will stay put in Delhi till October 4, will try to meet prime minister Manmohan Singh, Union finance minister Pranab Mukherjee, leaders of the Congress and some UPA partners. The day also marked the 19th day of Sakala Janula Samme in the region and a total bandh in the state capital in support of the demand for a separate state of Telangana. The TRS and TJAC prepared an agenda for their five-day Delhi tour. The delegation will explain to the prime minister the impact of the Sakala Janula Samme and urge him to take an immediate decision on the issue.“Telangana state should be formed with Hyderabad as its capital. The Seemandhra state can have Hyderabad as its capital for some years till a new capital city is built there. But in case will the TRS and TJAC agree to Hyderabad being made a Union Territory. If the Centre does not accept their demand, the TRS and TJAC will intensify the movement further on their own lines,” TRS sources said.Congress MP Madhu Yashki has been urging KCR for long to visit Delhi to explain the situation to the Centre.MIM MP Asaduddin Owaisi, who has met the TRS chief recently, also urged him to meet the prime minister.Their opinions and latest developments prompted the TRS chief and TJAC leaders’ sudden decision to undertake the Delhi visit.According to a TRS leader, the visit has become necessary to give the central leaders the correct picture in the wake of ‘false reports’ sent by chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy on the impact of the Samme and the situation in Telangana. The delegation will also use the opportunity to explain to central leaders to plight of farmers and other sections of people wrought by the harsh power cuts.“Besides, with the Congress completing the process of internal consultations, it is the right time for the Congress leadership to make an announcement on Telangana,” another TRS leader said and said the KCR visit to Delhi came at the right time. But, BJP and CPI-ML (New Democracy) leaders seem to be unhappy about the TRS chief’s Delhi visit.Miffed that the visit was not discussed at a TJAC meeting, leaders of the two parties suspect that the TRS is pursuing its own agenda in the name of TJAC.The TRS abruptly called of the TNGOs’ non-cooperation movement sometime ago, they recall.
