KELTRON to manufacture Mareech sonar arrays

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Bharat Electronics Ltd (BEL), Bangalore, has placed an order with Kerala State Electronics Development Corporation Ltd (KELTRON) for manufacturing two ‘Mareech,’ the sonar arrays which forms part of security systems in naval ships and submarines.    The order is worth Rs 6 crore, KELTRON officials said.  The KELTRON Controls division at Aroor, Kochi, will be taking up the work, KELTRON officials said. Technology developed by the Naval Physical and Oceanographic Laboratories (NPOL) under the Defence Research and Development Organisation  will be used for the production of the system. KELTRON Controls, Aroor, has already manufactured several other versions of sonar arrays for the Indian Navy. The division has also manufactured on-board electronic systems and control panels for the sonar arrays and supplied to BEL as well as the NPOL. NPOL has also recognised KELTRON, Aroor, as their best industrial partner, they said.
