Kochi: CPM leader M M Mani may not appear for interrogation before the special investigation team (SIT) on Monday. Instead, he will approach the Supreme Court against the Kerala High Court order dismissing his petition seeking to quash FIRs registered against him over his controversial remarks on eliminating political foes.

Meanwhile, Mani told ‘Express’ said a final decision regarding appearing before the SIT has not been taken. It is learnt that the decision not to appear before the SIT was taken after consulting legal experts. On Sunday Mani sought legal advice from former Advocate-General M K Damodaran. He reached Damodaran’s house here at 4 pm and left the place around 7 pm.

“Different aspects of the matter were discussed. No final decision has been taken in this regard. We are also considering available options,” Mani told ‘Express’.

“He will file a leave petition before the SIT so as to avoid personal appearance,” sources said. He will also request the SIT to exempt him from personal appearance till the apex court order comes, sources said.

Since the Kerala High Court has dismissed Mani’s petition, the SIT is also considering the possibility of arresting him.
