The State Tourism Department has given up its plan to organise the demo drive of Formula 1 car by Narain Karthikeyan in the capital during Onam Week celebrations.
In a statement here on Friday, the Department said that the demo drive plan had been dropped owing to some logistical reasons and the government would explore the possibility of conducting the event on another date.
The event had hit headlines after a city resident had moved the court against the F1 car drive if conducted above 40 km per hour, the maximum speed allowed on city roads. The government later considered a proposal to conduct the event with two lower caliber cars instead of an F1 car. However, it is learnt that the government is now considering the option to conduct the event with F1 car at some other convenient date. ENS
