K'taka Lokayukta to hear Acharya case today
Former Advocate General BV Acharya has been accused of misappropriation of funds in an education trust.

Bangalore: A Lokayukta court in Bangalore is expected to pronounce orders in a private complaint filed against former Advocate General BV Acharya on Saturday. He has been accused of misappropriation of funds in an education trust.

The complaint alleges that the value of the assets of the trust is over Rs 10,000 crore.

The petition also charged that the accused had entered into a criminal conspiracy to fraudulently misappropriate huge sums of money from donations under the management quota and substantial part of the fees collected under various categories.

Apart from former advocate general and chairman of the Council of Trustees BV Acharya, the other accused in the case are the trust’s member appointed by the government HU Talwar, member secretary BS Ragini Narayan and members Dr P Dayananda Pai and former Karnataka additional chief secretary Vijay Gore.

Acharya resigned from his post on February 8, 2012 to continue as public prosecutor in the Jayalalitha's disproportionate case.
