Kumily back to normal

KOCHI: After a day of violence, the situation at the Kerala-Tamil Nadu border in Idukki was back to normal on Tuesday.Apart from sporadic incidents of violence, nothing major was reported from the border areas.In Vandiperiyar, a tempo van returning from Sabarimala was attacked by agitators.Police officials in Kumily said that very few vehicles crossed the border.Due to recent acts of aggression, many Malayalis are stranded in the border districts of Tamil Nadu, the police said.The police had taken precautionary measures to tackle any violence in the district.Meanwhile, Idukki District Collector E Devadasan said that there are false rumours in Tamil Nadu that many, including women, are attacked and held hostage in Idukki district.In view of the incidents of violence, additional police were  deployed at many parts of the district on Tuesday.
