The second phase of Lok Sabha elections in Karnataka has picked up heat. From superstar Yash to Kiccha Sudeep, several Kannada stars flocked to the polling booths to cast their votes. Actor Darshan too gave his vote even after sustaining an injury in his left hand. Exercising their right to vote is one of the primary duties of citizens and Kannada citizens wholeheartedly believe it. Similarly, in Chikkamagaluru, the brides came to the polling booths to cast their votes before the wedding ceremony. They pressed the button on EVM while wearing a saree, heavy ornaments and a garland.
A bride named Soumya cast her vote at a polling booth in Kundur village of Mudigere Taluk before her wedding ceremony. The polling booth was only a few hours away from the wedding venue. The marriage took place in Maudigere of Chikkamagaluru district. It was her first time in voting. While talking to Local18, she said that her marriage was fixed on the day of voting. So she decided to cast and then attend the wedding.
A couple from Vijapura village of Chitradurga Taluk reached the polling station directly from the wedding venue to vote. Arun and Kavya got married today, April 26 As per the Business Standard report, a groom cast his vote in Chamarajanagar district before rushing to tie the nuptial knot.
An estimated 22.34 per cent voter turnout was recorded till 11 am during the first phase of Lok Sabha polls in 14 constituencies in Karnataka on Friday, as per the election officials. The voting began at 7 am. Out of 14 constituencies that are going to polls today, the highest turnout of 30.98 per cent was recorded in Dakshina Kannada, followed by Udupi-Chikmagalur at 29.03 per cent, and the least 19.21 per cent in Bangalore Central. The turnout was 19.81 per cent in Bangalore South and 19.78 per cent in Bangalore North.
