CHENNAI: The body of a youth, who was in love with the daughter of a former PMK councillor, was found here on Wednesday night.Bilal of Pillayar Koil Thottam in Mylapore, allegedly eloped with former PMK councillor Manivannan’s daughter Deepa (name changed) on December 2, last year. Acting on a complaint of abduction from Manivannan, the Mylapore police had summoned both families for questioning and to work out a compromise. Manivannan and Bilal’s brother Ahmed Basha (30) turned up before the police. There was a heated argument between both sides and in a fit of rage, Manivannan, took the rifle of a guard on duty and stabbed Ahmed Basha with its bayonet.Police arrested Manivannan on an attempt to murder charge. After the incident, Commissioner of police J K Tripathy ordered the suspension of SI Kandasamy and constable Venkatesan for negligence of duty. A memo was served on inspector D Purushottaman.On Wednesday night Bilal’s body was found on Sringeri Mutt Road at Raja Annamalaipuram. Confirming that there were injuries on his body, Kotturpuram assistant commissioner Sivasankaran said nobody had been picked up for questioning yet in connection with the suspected murder.
