Madras HC asks Vellore Mayor to apologise for condemning Jayalalithaa's conviction
The Vellore Municipal Corporation had passed a resolution condemning the verdict against the AIADMK chief.

Chennai: The Madras High Court on Tuesday rapped the Vellore Mayor P Karthiyayini asking her to apologize for passing a resolution against judge John Michael D' Cunha who sentenced former CM Jayalalithaa to four years in jail.

The High Court also asked the Mayor P Karthiyayini to issue a press release of the apology and to file an affidavit of the same in the court.

The Vellore Municipal Corporation had passed a resolution condemning the verdict against the AIADMK chief.

Judge John Michael D' Cunha was the judge of the special court in Bangalore that convicted Jayalalithaa in Rs 66.65 crore disproportionate assets case in September.
