HYDERABAD: A private employee’s six-year-old daughter was rescued by the police on Saturday. One woman has been arrested in connection with her abduction. S Neelima, a student of St Anns High School at Maredpally, suddenly went missing at 1.30 p.m while she was playing in front of her house at Begumpet, police said. According to Begumpet Inspector Y Narasimha Reddy, the girl’s parents Rajeswari and S Praveen searched for their daughter in their colony but couldn’t find her. However, they lodged a complaint at the police station at around 4 p.m.During the investigation, police came to know that the girl was seen last in the locality along with Manamma, a maid. Praveen, an engineer at Stay On Paper company, informed police that his wife has last seen Manamma on Saturday morning at the local Mahila mandal. “Manamma sought my mobile number saying that she will be in touch with me. So I gave her the number and hours later Neelima went missing,” Rajeshwari said. Later, Neelima’s family members received a call from Manamma demanding a ransom of `1 lakh.Police contacted the authorities of Mahila mandal. They traced Manamma’s telephone line and tracked her down to Kukatpally and then to Ameerpet. She was nabbed while she was travelling in an auto along with Neelima,” the inspector said.Neelima was rescued by city police near Life Style, Green Lands. During the interrogation, the accused told police that she had to kidnap the girl to pay back a debt of two lakh rupees. “Manamma became a pauper after she bought a house at Yallamabanda in Kukatpally worth two lakh rupees,” police added.Begumpet police registered a case and the investigation is on.
