COIMBATORE: A 22-year-old man, who allegedly attempted to sexually assault a minor girl at her house near Karumathampatty, has landed behind bars.Police said N Suresh of Vagarayampalayam lured the girl, a class three student, with his cellphone and took her inside her house on Saturday evening. “The girl was playing on the streets with her friends after returning from school. She had gone along with the accused, who is her neighbour. After taking the child inside the house, he had made sexual advances towards her,” said M Sarojini, sub-inspector, who is investigating the case. However, the accused fled after the girl raised an alarm, police said.Only two days after the incident, the child mustered courage to tell her mother about the incident.Police said the accused threatened the child’s mother when she questioned his actions following which she lodged a complaint with the police, who arrested Suresh on Tuesday. Police said Suresh denied the allegations and said that the child had complained against him as he had refused to give her his mobile phone. He was later remanded to judicial custody.
