New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday addressed the 25th edition of his popular radio show ‘Mann Ki baat’ on the occasion of Diwali and asked the citizens to dedicate this auspicious day in the memory of the jawans who lost their lives recently while fighting terrorists at the border.
“From last few months our jawans are sacrificing their lives, we should celebrate this Diwali in their name. I also have to thank the citizens of the nation for their support & love for our security forces & jawans protecting us,” PM Modi said during his address.
“Be it BSF, CRPF etc, our jawans are on duty and guarding us; that is why we are celebrating Diwali joyfully,” Modi added.
“People from walks of life sent messages of love and encouragement for our jawans (soldiers), just as they lit candles for their well being,’ Modi said recalling the hashtag #Sandesh2Soldiers which was used by a lot of people.
Recalling former leaders Sardar Vallabhai Patel and Indira Gandhi, Modi paid rich tributes to them and recalled their contribution to the nation.
“Tomorrow we are celebrating Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s birth anniversary. We are also remembering Indira Gandhi ji. Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel worked to bring everyone together, he worked for unity, fought for unity and brought unity amongst people. But Sardar’s birthday in history is remembered for the violence inflicted on Sikh people & “Sardars,” Modi said.
The programme was broadcast on the entire network of All India Radio and Doordarshan.
It would also streamed on the You Tube channels of Prime Minister’s Office, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and DD News.
The Regional language versions of this broadcast will be aired by AIR stations in respective regions at 8 pm on Monday.
