VISAKHAPATNAM: The nation- wide bandh called by banned CPI Maoist evoked good response in Visakhapatnam district while response was mixed in Vizianagaram and Srikakulam districts on Saturday.Life in mandal headquarters in the tribal areas was not affected in Vizianagaram and Srikakulam districts while in Visakhapatnam district shops and other commercial establishments remained closed and public and private vehicles stayed off the roads in most of the Maoist-dominated areas.Movement of buses to remote tribal areas in the region was badly affected.Maoists had called for a Bharat Bandh demanding a halt to the Operation Green Hunt and release of a large number of people arrested on charges of being rebels.The extremists cut down trees and lay them on the road to stop vehicular traffic at Pedabayalu mandal in Visakhapatnam district besides damaging roads at some other Maoist-dominated areas in the district in the wee hours of Saturday.Police intensified combing operations in AOB areas
