JEYPORE: Massive combing operation is on in the Odisha-Andhra Pradesh border areas like Narayanpatna and Parvatipuram forest following a tip off about movement of the Maoists. Over 1,000 armed security personnel from both the states are combing the areas to nab the Maoists who have sneaked into Koraput forests from the neighbouring state. According to intelligence reports, Maoist leaders of Andhra Pradesh are camping in Narayanpatna forested areas. While the security forces had earlier nabbed over 10 Maoists, including a woman cadre, in Koraput and Malkangiri recently, they are hopeful of making a major breakthrough in the ongoing combing operation. Though the police are tight-lipped about the operation due to security concerns, sources said Koraput DIG S Priyadarsi and his Visakhapatnam counterpart are in contact and the operation would last for a few more days. Meanwhile, left in the lurch are the poor tribals in these areas who are caught between the Maoists and the security personnel.
