VISAKHAPATNAM: A 35-year-old man was murdered here on Friday night. His body was found under a culvert on Saturday.The victim was identified as Sandeep Biswas, managing director of Swani Security Enterprises. Sandeep, of Sriharipuram, who also supplied vegetables to the Indian Navy, went to naval quarters in Dolphin Nose area in his car at 11 a.m. He told his wife Payal that he would return home at 6 p.m. The couple planned to go to Kolkata on Saturday for Dasara.When Sandeep failed to return home till 8 p.m, Payal called him up, but his phone was switched off. Then she called car driver Tirupati Reddy. But it was also switched off. Around 10 p.m, Reddy went to Biswas’ house along with another one in the car and told Payal that police arrested Sandeep and he was asked to bring cash. Payal who grew suspicious, refused to give him cash and insisted to talk to Sandeep. Reddy and his accomplice attacked her and tried to loot cash and gold. They fled the scene when neighbours went to Payal’s rescue on hearing her cries for help. Later, she filed a complaint with the police stating that her husband went missing and mentioned Reddy as a suspect. Around 5 p.m, police found Sandeep’s body wrapped in a gunny bag under the culvert at Sheelanagar.
