KOCHI: The intense drive to curb fever will commence on Friday. “A meeting will be held in the morning after which steps will be taken. The health staff will conduct house visits and those suffering from fever will be given medication and follow-ups done,” said the DMO. Awareness on preventive measures will be created.Samples of water will be taken and location of the septic tank noted. Disposal of septic tank waste in water bodies which is the major cause for the spread of diseases will be curbed and a way to dispose of the waste found. A meeting will be held with the District Collector, municipality representatives and the Corporation to spot a place to dispose of the septic tank waste. Water in tanker lorries will be checked for contamination and seized if found so. Checking will also be done in shops for water and food contamination, he said. Different kinds of fever are fast spreading its tentacles in the district. Dengue fever claimed one life last Friday taking the toll to three. Thirty two people are suspected to be suffering from it. On Thursday 363 cases of fever were reported. Ten cases of Hepatitis A, two suspected cases of rat fever, two typhoid cases and one suspected dengue fever case were reported.
