Karmkar alias Kantha Singh, popularly known as Jharkhand's godfather, is all set to contest Lok Sabha elections and has filed nomination papers as an independent candidate from Jamshedpur seat.
According to a report in Dainik Bhaskar, he was a car mechanic who had shut down his garage and converted it into a room to provide shelter to orphan children.
Even before that, Kantha reportedy used to beg just to feed these orphan children. He now owns two orphanges, one of which, is his own house in Dampara village of East Singhbhum district.
Seeing his unconditional love towards children, former President of India Pratibha Patil had also extended monetary help of Rs 50,000 to him.
Kantha will be facing JMM candidate Niroop Mohanty in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
