New Delhi: Hours after an explosion outside the Bharatiya Janata Party's office in Bangalore injured 16 people, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) on Wednesday issued a countrywide alert, asking all states to be extra vigilant.
However, no additional paramilitary troops are being sent to Karnataka as of now as the troops sought for the May 5 Assembly elections in the state are already in place. Meanwhile, the Karnataka government registered a case under Explosive Substance Act, Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, and various IPC provisions (attempt to murder). It also submitted its preliminary report on the bomb blast to the MHA.
Terror struck Bangalore when a bomb exploded near the BJP office in Malleshwaram on Wednesday morning, injuring at least 16 people, including 11 police personnel. Two temples are also located near the blast site and at the moment of explosion, several devotees were on their way to the places of worship.
There were no deaths reported even as the BJP claimed that its office and leaders were the target of the terror strike. State Home Minister R Ashok ruled out any political rivalry and said that the blast was purely a terror attack. He added a mobile SIM card and details of the registration of the motorcycle found at the blast site had been recovered.
