Technology fans have voted Microsoft's Xbox 360 as the best gaming console.

London: Technology fans have voted Microsoft's Xbox 360 as the best gaming console beating Sony's PlayStation Portable (PSP) and Nintendo's DS Lite.

Around 5,000 readers of the gadget magazine T3 voted for their favourite technological items in a series of categories, including best MP3 and best laptop.

"The poll is interesting because some of the trends where we have been thinking, 'is this really happening in the real world?', seem to be happening,” BBC quoted deputy editor of T3, Jason Jenkins as saying.

"For example, the fact that people are increasingly getting rid of their iPods and going for phones to listen to music on the move is something we have been writing about for months, but it's interesting to find out that people are actually doing it," he added.

While the Xbox 360 took home the prize for its innovative video game abilities, the Apple MacBook Pro was named best laptop, reportedly due to the way it "combined style and performance."

Other top winners were the iPod 30GB as the best MP3 player and the Sony Ericsson W810i for being the most lust-worthy mobile phone.

Jenkins added that this year's winners are likely to be an "excellent barometer" of which technological gadgets would become popular in the future.

"Our readers are primarily early adopters of gadgets, and we have found that in the past that whatever they go big on, the mass market adopts pretty soon afterwards," he said.
