Twin-seater aircraft crashed on the uninhabited Pirotan island, 40 km off the coast of Jamnagar.

Ahmedabad: A MiG 29 crashed on an island near Jamnagar city during a routine sortie on Thursday, Indian Air Force (IAF) officials said.

Both the pilots ejected to safety from the twin-seater aircraft which crashed on the uninhabited Pirotan island, 40 km off the coast of Jamnagar.

The pilots, whose names have yet not been released, were rescued from the sea by rescue teams of the IAF, local police and marine department, they said.

The pilots have been admitted to a local hospital for treatment, the sources said adding that an investigation was on to ascertain the exact reason for the crash.
