Minister blames banks

KOZHIKODE: The stubborn stance of some nationalised and cooperative banks in the state was one of the reasons for farmer suicides in Wayanad, Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Mullappally Ramachandran has said. He was speaking to mediapersons here on Sunday on the sidelines of the annual conference of the South Malabar Gramin Bank Deposit Collectors Union. The stance of some banks added to the financial crisis of farmers and this is condemnable, he said.“The chairmen of some  nationalised banks are  behaving like ‘super government’.  “The services of most of the nationalised banks are commendable but some are against the interests of the people,” he said.
