SIVAGANGA: ‘Golden’ scripts of former chief minister M Karunanidhi have been obliterated in government buses operating in Sivaganga district.All buses display a couplet from Thirukkural. They also have writings mentioning ‘reserved for women, aged and disabled’. They carry no-smoking stickers as well.In addition, some buses displayed words of Karunanidhi, in Tamil such as ‘the lips would not come together when you say ‘naan’ or ‘nee’. ‘They will come together when you say ‘naam’. There were complaints from commuters that in some buses operated by the Kumbakonam depot, Thirukkural couplets have been replaced by the ‘sayings’ of Karunanidhi. Therefore, Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation authorities have ordered the obliteration of these sayings with paint. Stickers bearing the words have been peeled off.
