CHENNAI: Those who had gathered at the Museum Theatre on Thursday, anticipating an entertaining evening did not go home disappointed. Maya Krishna Rao, who began her performance with the Nakka Mukka song in the background, gave them not just entertainment but more than what they bargained for. The stage artiste, through her cleverly crafted show, made fun of the present social and political scenarios. Maya skillfully managed to intersperse her light-hearted performance with serious issues. The first event in the fifth edition of the Park’s Show Festival conducted by the Prakriti Foundation, the one-woman play, The Non Stop Car-Food-Clothes-Feel-Good-Show, was about the life of a woman recalled by herself as different episodes in a TV show. When the actor gave ‘beauty tips’ for cars in the first episode, the audience burst out laughing. Maya metaphorically used fish to represent politicians, and later made every individual accountable for corruption in the country. “Salt youself before blaming the politicians” was the message of the episode. Later, in another epsiode, she played a politician who was writing her autobiography in jail, but stopped it midway, as she was released due to her ‘good conduct’. But in all this, no one expected the 58-year-old actor to flash her underwear to the audiences. However, Chennaitties, surprisingly, took it lightly and laughed it off.
