BANGALORE: The High Court on Wednesday dismissed a case challenging compulsory retirement by Thippeswamy, faculty member at the BioSciences Department of Mangalore University (MU) who was asked to retire after he was found guilty of committing sexual harassment.
Two junior research fellows working under Thippeswamy had lodged a complaint against him alleging of sexual harassment.Thippeswamy was later recommended for compulsory retirement after a threemember committee of the MU found him guilty.

Thippeswamy then approached the High Court, where a single judge stayed the suspension. Later, a division bench vacated the stay order and directed the varsity to form a committee and inquire into the matter. The three member committee found Thippeswamy guilty and recommended him for compulsory retirement.
