HYDERABAD: Two Mumbai-based jewellers were robbed of five kilos of gold by three motorcyle-borne miscreants at Abids on Tuesday night. One of the jewellers was injured in the incident, the second of its kind in Abids in less than a month.  Much to the embarrassment of the police, the robbery unfolded near the Abids police station. In an immediate reaction, Abids police inspector K Shiva Kumar was placed under suspension and Assistant Commissioner of Police (Abids division) PVG Vijay Kumar was issued a charge memo.According to police, two brothers from Mumbai, Rakesh Sakaira and Sonu Sakaria, who take orders from local jewellers, had been paying visits to jewellery stores in the Old City in an auto-rickshaw since morning and by dusk, they landed at the Bajrang Lal Jewellers at Gunfoundry.  After emerging out of the store, they were about to board the auto around 8.30 pm when three robbers pounced upon them from behind. The trio came on two motorcycles. One of them hit Rakesh hard and in a jiffy, another snatched the blue rexine bag the brothers were carrying. The bag contained five kilos of gold. Before the brothers could realise what was happening, the robbers fled from the spot. Police Commissioner A K Khan and Central Zone DCP Akun Sabharwal visited the spot.
