Natwar meets PM to prove innocence
Natwar is on a door-knocking spree. After calling-on Sheila Dikshit and Sonia Gandhi on Tuesday, Natwar was at the PM's residence today.

New Delhi: A day after submitting his resignation from the Cabinet, Natwar Singh called on Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Wednesday.

Though the meeting did not have had a substancial outcome, Natwar is reported to have submitted a compact disc (CD) to the PM.

The CD contains an interview of former Iraqi Ambassador to India, Salah al Mukhtar. In an interview to a TV channel, Mukhtar states the Indian delegation that visited Iraq in 2001, did not transact any business with the then Iraqi regime.

Talking to reporters after the meeting, Natwar Singh reiterated his innocence and non-involvement in the alleged payoffs in the discredited Iraqi oil-for-food programme.

Meanwhile, the PM confirmed that he had received the resignation of Natwar Singh and would forward it to the President for acceptance.
