New Delhi: British broadcaster Channel 4 on Tuesday had ordered a review of the editorial practices followed in the making of the controversial reality show Celebrity Big Brother.
Channel 4 appointed NRI human rights lawyer Rabinder Singh Q C to join its review.
The show came under the scanner after a former participant, Jade Goody, and other housemates were accused of making racist barbs against actress Shilpa Shetty.
Rabinder Singh, a barrister at Matrix Chambers, which he co-founded with the Prime Minister's wife Cherie Blair, will sit as the independent member on a three-strong panel commissioned in the wake of the race row that erupted last week.
The review panel will include Channel 4 group finance director Anne Bulford and non-executive director Tony Hall, chief executive of the Royal Opera House and a former chief executive of BBC News.
The racism row has subsided after viewers overwhelmingly voted on Friday to evict Jade Goody, 25. Goody was seen as the ringleader in the alleged bullying of 31-year-old Bollywood star Shilpa Shetty.
According to Sunday Telegraph, Vanni Treves, who resigned as Channel 4 boss in 2003, urged Duncan to pull the plug on the programme, which he said exploited the 'unhappy and the unfortunate'. He called the show a 'grotesque travesty'.
