Organic farmers to be honoured

KOCHI: Janapaksham and Divya Karunya Trust will be honouring around 21 organic farmers from Mararikkulam Panchayat and their families on Thursday at Ernakulum YMCA Hall at 3.30 pm. The programme will be inaugurated by singer K J Yesudas. Mayor Tony Chammany will preside over the function. Ernakulam District Collector P A Sheik Pareeth will distribute the cash prizes. State convener of Janapaksham Benny Joseph, Kanjikuzhi panchayat president D Priyesh, P C Cyriac, Fr Roby Kannanchira-CMI, Adv Babu Varghese and K V Alfred, YMCA president, will also be present.Janapaksham  and Divya Karunya Trust will adopt the village of Kanjikuzhi (Mararikulam) for supporting its organic farmers by distributing interest-free loans to eligible farmers, rendering educational support to their children, providing insurance coverage for the farmers’ yields and by helping them  get maximum prices for their agricultural produce.
