Union Minister of State for External Affairs VK Singh smelt a conspiracy behind the suicide of ex-serviceman Subedhar Ram Kishan Grewal over delay in the implementation of One Rank One Pension (OROP) scheme.

Speaking to the media persons, he said, "We want to know how did he procure Sulpha tablets and who gave it to him? Also, it need to be probed that how it is possible for a man (referring to Grewal) to have conservation with his son over cell phone after consuming poison."

"His issue was with the bank and not with OROP. If he had reached out to us and didn't get help, then it was our fault. He was a Congress worker and who fought Sarpanch election on Congress ticket. His suicide is unfortunate," he added.
On Wednesday, Singh triggered a controversy for his remark that mental state of Grewal needs to be probed.
