BARGARH: Under pressure from the farmers, the Bargarh administration has decided to start paddy procurement from November 15.A meeting was convened by Collector Bhabagrahi Mishra on Wednesday where it was resolved that procurement will begin at market yards and purchase centres under Attabira and Bargarh regulated marketing committees from November 15 and those located in Padampur on November 20. It was decided that each farmer can sell 25 quintals of paddy per acre in irrigated areas while it will be 18 quintals in non-irrigated land, on production of Farmer Identity Cards. “The farmers will unload paddy in the market yards. The procuring agencies will then load the paddy for weighing, expenses for which will be borne by them. While the general quality paddy will get MSP of ` 1,080 per quintal, A grade paddy will be bought for ` 1,110.
