BANGALORE: A painter was killed instantly after an unidentified vehicle knocked him down near Huskur Gate on Hosur Road within Hebbagodi police station limits on the outskirts of the city on Saturday night. The deceased was identified as Venkatesh (40), a resident of Mosarur in Anekal.According to the police, Venkatesh, who was addicted to alcohol, was returning home late on Saturday night when a vehicle hit him and sped away. Venkatesh sustained injuries and was killed immediately. Hebbagodi police registered a case and were on the lookout for the vehicle. 44 Cattle RescuedAkhila Karnataka Pranidaya Sangha (AKPS) on Saturday rescued 44 cattle which were being transported to a slaughter house at Kerala. Speaking to Express, a member of AKPS said, “Volunteers caught the vehicle and handed over to KR Puram police, but the driver and the conductor fled away and are still absconding.” It is learnt that earlier too there were many instances of the same vehicle transporting cattle.
