A passenger on a local train in Mumbai physically assaulted a travelling ticket inspector (TTE) on Friday after being fined for riding in an air-conditioned coach without a valid ticket.
The passenger, Aniket Bhosale, had a first-class ticket but was caught in the AC coach during his journey from Churchgate to Virar.
Chief Ticket Inspector Jasbir Singh confronted Bhosale when he discovered the discrepancy with his ticket. The situation quickly escalated from a verbal dispute to a physical altercation, NDTV reported.
A video of the incident shows Bhosale and other passengers clashing with Singh, who was reportedly injured and had his shirt torn during the altercation. Additionally, Singh lost Rs 1,500, which he had collected as fines from other passengers.

The altercation led to the train stopping at Borivali station. Despite being asked to leave the train, Bhosale refused until he was eventually removed by Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel at Nalasopara station.
Later, Bhosale issued a written apology, acknowledging his mistake and expressing concern about the potential impact of an FIR on his job. He also reimbursed Singh the Rs 1,500 that was lost during the commotion.
