CHENNAI: A petrol station employee reported the theft of personal cash of Rs 25,000 borrowed for his sister’s marriage at Adyar on Tuesday.Police said Sasikumar (28)of Tondiarpet, worked as cashier at a petrol station near the traffic signal on L B Road. He alleged that he had sought a loan of Rs 25,000 for his sister’s marriage on June 3 and the money was handed over to him on Monday night. He placed the money inside a bag, kept it under his head and went to sleep. When he woke up around 4 am, he found the bag missing. The police picked up a suspect, Murugan (43)after an eyewitness reported seeing him at the petrol station late at night. Murugan, who had three kids, was mentally challenged and loitered in the area, police said. While the bag was found with him, cash of Rs 25,000 and Rs 200 kept inside a wallet were missing. The Shastri Nagar police are investigating.
