HYDERABAD:  A public interest litigation petition was filed in the High Court on Monday seeking direction to the state government for immediate stoppage of release of advertisements to Eenadu Telugu newspaper on grounds of alleged breach of policy under which advertisements are released and for involvement in acts of criminal conduct. The petition is likely to come up for hearing before vacation court on Wednesday. The petitioners alleged that Ushodaya Enterprises Pvt Ltd with Ch Ramoji Rao as its chairman had been openly canvassing support for anti-Congress political parties with an agenda of furthering the political fortunes of the TDP. In spite of alleged violation of norms in GO 403 dated July 21, 1992, the government’s continued patronage of Ushodaya Publications in the form of release of advertisements should be declared as arbitrary and illegal, they said.
