New Delhi: The UP police has busted a major kidney racket in Gurgaon, involving at least seven doctors and a 'quack'. A police team from Moradabad unearthed the racket and arrested four doctors during a raid on two houses in Palam Vihar and Gurgaon late Thursday night.

The Moradabad police was informed by one of the persons whose kidney was taken out by the doctor.

In a press conference in Gurgaon, the police authorities said that the doctor couple had FIR’s registered in Delhi, AP and Mahim police station. The couple had been involved in this trade for the last 8-10 years. The police said that Dr Upendra Kumar, Dr Sarv Kumar and Dr Amit Kumar used to conduct these transplants in Gurgaon.

Dr Upendra Kumar has reportedly done approximately 500-600 transplants, however it is also likely that they may have done even more transplants.

The police authorities said in the press conference that they kept an eye on Urologists in Gurgaon, Delhi and the patients who came to these doctors for dialysis. However, the police said that it is not clear whether the victims were forced for these transplants.

The police claim that they are getting in touch with the Mumbai police and are busy questioning the NRI’s and the Greek Nationals. The agents who were involved in the crime have also been arrested. Among them, Pappu, Naushad and Jagdish are from Merrut.

The police admit that although they have proofs for the kidney transplants, they lack details and evidence on transplants of other organs. “We have sent notices to immigration and all the airports to look out for absconding doctors,” say the police.
