HYDERABAD: The bomb attack on the Israeli Embassy car in the high security zone in New Delhi has had the Andhra Pradesh police press the panic button.
Hours after the Delhi incident, the officials quickly took up an exercise to identify the Israeli nationals staying in Hyderabad, Cyberabad and rest of the state. The idea is to give them a brief on how to take care of their own security along with providing some police protection, the modalities of which were being worked out.
Top sources disclosed to Express that the special branch of the Hyderabad police on Tuesday sought details of the Israeli nationals staying in the city from the Foreigners Regional Registration Office which works under the Bureau of Immigration, Ministry of Home Affairs, in Hyderabad.Sources said that there are not more than 35 to 40 Israeli nationals living in different parts of the state and some of them are said to be working in a few multinational companies in Cyberabad.''We are also working out on what kind of protection the police can provide to them as we feel that Monday's explosion in Delhi may have repercussions on the Israeli nationals staying across the country,'' sources said.On the other hand, there are a few thousand Iranian nationals, who reside in Hyderabad and the adjoining Cyberabad police limits. Senior officials were of the view that Monday's bomb attack in Delhi, has thrown up yet another challenge to the law enforcing agencies as they say that they now have an altogether new 'front' to handle.
