A release from District Collector Dr R Selvaraj states that due to the protest against the KKNPP, public peace has been thwarted and there is a pressing need to maintain law and order situation.  “To ensure peace in this area, Section 144 (1) of Criminal Procedure Code has been extended within the radius of 7 km from KKNPP in Radhapuram taluk from September 11 to October 9,” he said. Taking into consideration the seriousness of the situation and the report presented by the District Superintendent of Police, anti-nuclear protestors belonging to political parties, outfits and various organisations, who are helping and instigating the protests, have been banned from entering the area under the prohibitory orders, he added.
