HYDERABAD: Banking unions have threatened to organise strikes and bandhs across the country if the central government introduces the Banking Law Amendment Bill-2011 in the monsoon session of Parliament.Speaking at a press conference here on Monday, convener of United Forum of Banking Unions P Nanda Kishore said that the Bill's provisions are against the interests of bank employees and aimed at privatising banking. The government has announced its decision to formulate a new banking licence policy to enable industrial houses to start banks. He added that the government was about to compound the problem by opening private business correspondents and business facilitators which is nothing but privatising banking jobs and services. He added that all bank union representatives and employees have come under the banner of the UFBU to discuss the common problems of the employees and fight against the new Bill. The UFBU has taken a decision to observe a dharna on July 27 in all capital cities and observe a oneday strike on August 5 across the country.
