Gujarat: Protests have erupted in the capital Gandhinagar over a massive demolition drive that has targeted illegal structures including temples.

More than hundred locals gathered at the site where the Sai Baba Temple once stood .

The temple was pulled down by bulldozers last night.

This happened after the session's court rejected a plea demanding a stay on its demolition.

So far 350 such illegal structures have been brought down.

This drive is being carried out by the collector, the forest department and the police.

A survey conducted by the collectorate shows that 107 temples are on main roads and another 312 on interior roads all of which will be removed.
