In the video, local residents can be seen throwing a thick rope down the gorge with a man descending to lift the woman to safety. According to police, the woman suffered injuries and was admitted to a local hospital after she was rescued by local residents and Home Guards.
Police said the woman from Pune was visiting Borne Ghat in the Satara district with her friends when the incident took place on Saturday evening (August 3). The local administration had reportedly banned tourists from the area where the incident took place.
Home Guards and local residents pulled the woman to safety using a rope, officials said.
This comes days after Mumbai-based chartered accountant Anvi Kamdar fell into a gorge while making a video in Maharashtra’s Raigad district last month. The 27-year-old was on a monsoon outing with seven friends and fell into the 300-feet deep gorge near the famous Kumbhe waterfall at Mangaon.
Kamdar was filming a video of the scenic surroundings, when she slipped and fell into the gorge. On being alerted by her friends, police and local rescuers reached the spot and rushed her to a nearby government hospital where she died during treatment.
